An Introduction to Meditation: Why, What and How

with Ian Richard Albert

Saturday, May 27, 9am-noon

In this workshop we will explore shamata, or calm abiding meditation, the foundational meditation practice in the Buddhist tradition.

Through the practice of shamata, we come to experience the present moment with calm clarity and an open, non-grasping quality of awareness. This is a doorway to deeper insight into the nature of our minds and our relationship with the world around us.

The workshop will present the Why, What and How of meditation within a Buddhist context and will include carefully guided meditation sessions as well as the opportunity for questions and answers.

This workshop is perfect for beginners or anyone who is interested in deepening their calm abiding meditation practice.

Location: Sukhasiddhi Center, Fairfax CA.

Cost: Sliding scale, $35-$50. Or offer what is appropriate for you.
