Appearance and Recognition: The Stages of Mahamudra Meditation

A Body-Based Meditation Retreat with Ari Goldfield

Thursday-Sunday, April 20-23, 2017; 9:30 am – 4:00 pm daily

External and internal appearances
continually arise in our experience. As this happens, do we take what appears to be fixed and rigid in its identity, and as a result feel stuck, overwhelmed, cut off, or isolated?

Mahamudra teaches a different way of relating with experience, via the four stages of recognition: recognizing appearances as mind; mind as emptiness; emptiness as spontaneous presence; and spontaneous presence as self-liberation.

During this retreat we will explore the foundations of Mahamudra’s four stages in a step-by-step way that develops confidence and direct experience. There will be explanations, meditation sessions, and time for questions and discussion.

Prerequisites: Participants should have some experience with meditation practice and some familiarity with Buddhist principles.

Location: Sukhasiddhi Center, Fairfax CA.

Cost: Sliding Scale $385-425. Member Cost: $350-$425
