Exploring the Heart Sutra: The Core Buddhist Teaching on Emptiness

THE QUINTESSENCE of the Great Wheel of Buddhism is contained in the enigmatic and pith Heart Sutra. In this series of eight sessions, we will explore the meaning of the words of this profound sutra, finding ways of applying this to our daily lives and meditation practice.

Please join me as we journey together and strengthen our aspiration to perfect wisdom. Each class will involve meditation, readings, reflections and discussion.

This series is intended for intermediate levels of meditators with experience and understanding of Buddhist principles.  Please join Stephen for 12 interesting and lively evenings that could profoundly affect your life.

This class may be attended by live stream video or by audio and video recordings.

Prerequisites: Experience with meditation, and understanding of Buddhist principles is required.  If you have questions about whether this is the right class for you, please contact us.

Cost: Sliding scale, $85 – $125. New students may attend the first class by donation before deciding to join the series.

stephengrossStephen Gross met and took refuge with the previous Kalu Rinpoche in the mid-1980s. This seeded his interest in Vajrayana and eventually led him to study with Lama Palden and to complete both the Bodhi and Shangpa lineage practice programs. Fascinated with the human psyche, he attained his Master’s in Psychology and practiced as a licensed psychotherapist for 17 years. He has taught a course in “Buddhism and Psychology” at JFK University. Now, using his humor and love of the Dharma, Stephen teaches classes at Sukhasiddhi on both Buddhist philosophy and practice.
