Poetry Writing as a Spiritual Practice

with Jane Brunette

Sunday, September 17th, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm

Come immerse yourself in writing as deep play and use the mind of meditation to access the natural stream of your expression.

In an atmosphere of warmth and non-judgment, we will loosen the grip of our critical minds so that expression can flow freely into the space where poetic leaps and associations abound. The day will include practices for tuning your attention to the essential, opening to association, and finding the poem in a narrative freewrite.

We will do timed free writes from evocative prompts and alternate writing and reading our work aloud, cultivating an attitude of deep listening to find a source of wisdom and expression beyond the intellect. A potent process for all levels of writers and meditators, the depth of it depends on your willingness to relax and let go into the unknown. Please bring a notebook, a pen, and a bag lunch.

Jane is a relaxed, attentive and wise teacher —a unique and exceptional guide for both one’s writing and awakening.
