Thank you for your interest in the 2024 Pilgrimage in Bhutan. This page contains an overview of the pilgrimage, its cost, the application process and refund policy. If after reading this information, the pilgrimage is of serious interest to you, there is a priority list you may enroll in.
We hope will join Lama Palden for this exceptional opportunity to see the inside treasures and sacred sites of Bhutan with a lama who has deep and intimate knowledge of Vajrayana Buddhism and Bhutan.
Bhutan is the last of the Vajrayana Buddhist countries preserving its rare and unique history and culture. Many realized masters, both male and female, of Buddhism have practiced in Bhutan, including: Padmasambhava, Yeshe Tsogyal, Milarepa, Machig Lhadron and Longchenpa. On pilgrimage we meditate and pray in the very places where these masters lived, often in temples hundreds of years old, some of them undisturbed since being built in the 8th century.
Going on pilgrimage is a profound practice, one which may bring about deep transformation and openings spiritually. We also get a feel for how Buddhism, and in particular Vajrayana, permeates and is practiced in its native culture in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
Making this pilgrimage even more unique, Lama Döndrup will be joining us on this pilgrimage.

Application Details

Pay $2,000 application fee (online)
A phone interview may be requested if any questions
Receive Acceptance Email — typically received within two weeks of application
The application will request information on spiritual background for those not active in Sukhasiddhi. The application will also request information on physical issues which might make the two walking/hiking parts of the pilgrimage difficult.
The cost of the pilgrimage is:
Early Bird Discount - Apply by February 28, 2024
$8,599.00 (members $8,399.00), payable in four payments over 8 months
After February 28, 2024:
$8,899.00 (members $8,659.00)
Single room supplement is $575.00
This price includes:
Airfare from Bangkok to Bhutan and return to Bangkok, visa for Bhutan
While in Bhutan, all hotels (double occupancy), meals, English speaking guides, entrance fees, visa and taxes

$2000 payable April 15,
plus single room supplement if using$2000 is payable June 15

Additional Information
Costs Not Covered:
Round trip airfare from your home to Bangkok
Hotel and meals while in Bangkok
Travel insurance, a requirement to enter Bhutan
Excess baggage on flight from Bangkok to Bhutan
Alcoholic beverages in Bhutan, laundry, phone calls,
Offerings for temple visits, local guides and drivers, lamas and teachers we may visit (no set price, at your discretion)
Hotel and meal costs due to delayed flights into or out of Bhutan. This has not happened on any of our pilgrimages, but just in case.
Refund Policy
This pilgrimage is designed for a set number of people, cancellations have a substantial impact on pilgrimage viability. Please make sure your travel insurance can cover any loss due to cancellation:
Until March 15: all monies will be refunded less a $350 cancellation fee
After March 15: no refund will be made on the initial $2000 deposit. The refund policy for the other deposits is:
Cancellation between March 15 and September 15th: last three payments returned less $2,000 cancellation fee
