Awake in the World - Week 2

  • Sukhasiddhi Foundation P.O. Box 151327 San Rafael, CA, 94915 United States (map)

Multiple Dates! Sundays: June 30, July 7, July 14 | 10 AM - 12 PM (Pacific)

Topic: Changing the Don’ts to Do’s: Drilling Down with Chekawa’s Points Five and Six

Tibetan Buddhism offers us many rich texts and practices, all aimed at cultivating a kind heart and a greater sense of interconnection with all forms of life. To authentically attain those goals won’t only happen on the meditation cushion, or in retreat, or when you have time—to be fully invested in such growth and change, we must utilize every minute of our lives. This is true Spiritual Engagement.

In these three sessions, we will find ways to integrate the teachings of Points Five and Six in Geshe Chekawa Yeshe Dorje’s great mind training text, “An Explanation of the Practices as a Way of Life.” These verses are simple, yet pithy, almost riddles. They are shrouded in language that upon first look, seems old and outdated-while they really are shining the light on all the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. They show us how they can be applied to change how we interact with the world and perceive the world interacting with us. We will drill into the depth of meaning of each line, and transfer that meaning into our personal experience as well as our collective experience of being human in these trying times.
