Amitabha (Buddha of Limitless Light) represents the Lotus Family
and the pure land of Dewachen (Land of Bliss)

It is taught the Dewachen is the most accessible pure land for human beings after we die, so Amitabha is practice done for those transitioning from this life into the next. It is also practiced in the context of Phowa practice, which is the ejection of consciousness at the moment of death.

In response to Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche’s request that these teachings be given following the empowerment that he offered, Lama Döndrup will provide the reading transmission (lung) and the teachings (tri) for the brief Amitabha/Dewachen practice.

Prerequisite: One must have received an Amitabha empowerment.
