In this last of a 3-part series on the Karma Kagyu Lineage, Lama Döndrup will lead vipashyana meditation and present the life and teachings of the great masters Gampopa and Karmapa.
The first half of the series will be an exploration of Gampopa’s life interspersed with teachings on the Four Dharmas of Gampopa and his teachings on Mahamudra.
The latter half of the series will be an exploration of the life of the first reincarnate master Dusum Khyenpa, the first Karmapa, and the rich lineage of Karmapas to follow.
The Karmapa is the namesake of the Karma Kagyu lineage, and the 3rd Karmapa wrote the 3 major texts on Mahamudra that we study regularly at Sukhasiddhi Foundation.
The meditation class that follows will be an experiential exploration of Niguma’s Extraordinary Shamatha. This practice develops and enhances our ability to rest in calm abiding through use of the 5 elements and the 5 female buddhas.
