His Eminence, Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche

The lineage holder of the Shangpa Kagyu, will offer two weekends of teachings online and give an Amitabha Empowerment for Sukhasiddhi Foundation.

Weekend 1 Teaching Topic: Shamatha and Vipashyana of Mahamudra
Aug 27 & 28 | 10am - 4pm PDT

Kalu Rinpoche will focus on the topic of Shamatha and Vipashyana of Mahamudra. Shamatha (Calm Abiding) is the practice of bringing the mind to stillness by resting in non-distraction. Once the mind is stable, one looks directly at the mind through the nonconceptual, meditative inquiry of Vipashyana to come to recognize its nature. The insight that arises through engaging in these practices allows one to recognize cause of suffering and the mind’s boundless nature and capacity. Wisdom, compassion and all the qualities of a bodhisattva then naturally spring forth, and one can access the wisdom that recognizes the nature of mind.

Weekend 2 Teaching Topic: Teachings on a text of Sukhasiddhi's and Niguma's Amulet Mahamudra
Sept 3 & 4 | 1pm - 4pm PDT

Please join us this weekend for an opportunity to receive teachings from Kalu Rinpoche, the lineage holder of the Shangpa Kagyu. He will offer inspiring, relevant, and immediately applicable commentary on a teaching by Sukhasiddhi from Jamgön Kongtrül’s Dam Ngag Dzö (gdams ngag mdzod) and on Niguma’s Ga’u Ma (Amulet) Mahamudra text.

The opportunity to learn these teachings will be especially meaningful for us as a Buddhist organization that bears Sukhasiddhi’s name and brings the sacred feminine aspect to the forefront. Sukhasiddhi and Niguma were two wisdom dakinis born in Kashmir who were primary teachers of Khyungpo Naljor and inspired the founding of the Shangpa Kagyu Lineage in the 11th Century. This is an exciting opportunity to learn more about this Sukhasiddhi teaching which was recently translated by Sarah Harding.

Amitabha Empowerment

The Amitabha Empowerment will be offered on Sat, August 27 at 7 pm. You must have taken refuge to attend. For those who have not,

Amitabha, the Buddha of Limitless Light, is a Buddha that is called upon at the time of death. He is associated with the Padma family and is the embodiment of the wisdom of discernment.
